HBDTM

Yes. Its that time of the year again. The day that a number tell you that you have gain wiseness. When it some by, i usually reflect on the year that have gone. 2006, an interesting year. No more beach volleyball. Something seems to be missing for that, but life moves on. Haven't dive in 2006, which was something that i really wanted to do. Gave up driving, which was quite refreshing. However, looks like i will be picking it up again.

Many changes are happening to everyone. And many changes will happen to us in the future. No denying that life goes on. Just hang on and enjoy that ride...

zouk me out 2006

ok... ZoukOut 2006. Yes. Uncle was there. And let me give you an account of how an Uncle (and aunites) survive ZoukOut! Basically, we are no more the dirty dirty people anymore. If there is no proper seat and shelter. Well, you can safely say we will not be there!! hahah ahah..

So it was lucky that I managed to win this Johnnie Walker prize. I got the 'LIMO' (read: Merc Taxi) to pick us up at about 9:20pm to get into the party. As you can see it is waaaaaay early to go there for a party that last till 9am the next morning, but on hindsight. It was a good move, as it gave us a lot of time to walk around and check out the different areas.

But first things first, where to get the tickets?!? In my excitement of winning the contest, I have forgotten to arrange for how to collect the tickets! Luckily, the organizers managed to get me right when we were about to walk to the ZoukOut entrance. So we collected the 4 tix and the drinks coupons. All in all, the whole thing cost about $266 dollars, for all the drinks, tix, and taxi transfers! And we get to have a tent that we can hang out and chill. And it is really near one of the main stage, so we have a very good sight and sound of the whole place.

Hence, we basically sit and drink the coupons and then check out the places. That is how uncles and aunties go ZoutOut. haa haa

I met a few people and was nice to talk and chill with them for a while. We finished at around 4am. ( we wanted to stay longer, well... it was just about nice anyway) And I got home at around 5am. So it was quite ok overall, we all agree that if not for the free tix and free drinks.. we sould not have made it there!! haahha..

We actually took quite a lot of photos, but not with me right now...

What A Week!

Alright. I admit it. I never update after a great week. The Standard Chartered Marathon 2006, which I went and ran a half marathon (next year the full! I promise!!) And nothing from me about it. Well, the reason is quite simple. I got sick, well, soft of sick. I got some flu and running nose. And then I had to bring my dad to the polyclinic for some infection he was having due to his bed sore.
Now that I have the time. Let me update a little on the race. First thing first. There was suppose to be a few of us ‘Nuazhster’ that were suppose to go for the run, but some had to pull out for personal reasons. I hope they can join me next time. Or can join me in the Safra Biathalon in March! (YES! I am serious!) So congrats to the others that ran!!

Back to the race. I did a decent 2hr 09min 15sec for the half marathon. I was a nice day for running. I got the bus ticket from CCK stadium and got there around 5:10am. It was kind of early, which was good as I like to hang around and relax before the race. 6:30am was the half marathon flag off time, with the marathon starting at 6am. It was nice good run. The weather was very good, cooling and the pace was quite ok. The thing I was looking around was trying to pace myself and probably find a target to follow and chase. I like to do that. So I decided on looking for bald men! Yes! Bald men! Reason? Nope, not that I have the hots for them, but rather they are the easiest to spot from afar!! And likely they are of middle age or around my age group. So they should be fairly easy to catch .. kee kee…

The route was quite nice. I think I did quite a slow pace throughout. I believe that I was running at 6min/km for the first 15km. Which is a breeze pace, but I really think it was slow. I sped up at the last 5km. I saw a lot of people, my ex-colleague that was doing the full marathon, and some friends that I never knew were running!! I was quite fun and I was glad that I did not suffer as I did in the Army half marathon. Hence, I was happy, but feel that I could have ran much faster. Training really helps, although it was interrupted by work and the haze.
After the race, I had to rush off home and then attend a wedding lunch back in town after that. Pick up Jessica and then headed to the Marina Mandarin. I reached there just in time before the couple walked into the room!! Phew! Another race! .. Kee kee..

The lunch was ok, but I seldom have such a heavy lunch before! And compound with sleepness, it was kind of hard to bear. It was overall fun as I catch up with some friends. So it was good. After the lunch, send Jessica home and then went home to sleep. Right up till Monday!!!

Back at work on Monday was quite ok. Spend much of the morning searching for my results and stuff. And I could feel a little cold coming along. I was fine till I got back home, then next day then feel sick. The doctor says that I am ok, just that the cold and hot feeling I getting and the tiredness is because my body is fighting the cold. So he gave me MC on Wednesday to rest at home. That was good, as I need the rest and then had to send my dad to see the doctor on Thursday.
On Thursday night. I got a call from this Rico from Johnnie Walker. He said that I won 4 tickets to ZoukOut 2006 on Saturday, which include limo transfer to and fro the event. VIP access to the JW marquee and 1 bottle of JW Black Label!! And I can bring 3 friends with me!!!

I did a double take and then ask… “ er… is there a catch?? You playing with me? You got the wrong person??” He assure me that it’s no hoax. Of course, I was happy like bird! So yes. Tomorrow. I will be off to ZOUK OUT 2006! See you there!!

What a week….!
